In regulating the Internet, MDA adopts a balanced and light-touch approach to ensure that minimum standards are set for the responsible use of the Internet while giving maximum flexibility to industry players to operate. To complement its light-touch regulatory approach, MDA also encourages industry self-regulation and public education efforts.

Internet Regulatory Framework

As part of its effort to maintain Singapore's position as a business-friendly communication and information hub, MDA has established an Internet Regulatory Framework to promote and facilitate the growth of the Internet while safeguarding social values as well as racial and religious harmony.

Internet Filtering Features & Software

In response to feedback from parents and schools about the dark side of the Internet, MDA has worked with the three Internet Access Service Providers in Singapore to provide optional family access networks (FAN) or filtering services that parents can subscribe to for their children.
