Since the first radio station was launched in Singapore in 1936, the radio scene has evolved. It is transitioning from analogue to digitised modes of transmission, enabling listeners to receive crystal clear quality sound. These days, listeners can even tune in to radio stations via the Internet.
With the industry flourishing, listeners in Singapore can choose from a wide range of radio stations operated by both local and foreign broadcasters such as MediaCorp Radio, SAFRA Radio, SPH Unionworks, Rediffusion, BBC Radio and Bloomberg Radio.
To ensure that programmes are of high quality and are acceptable to the majority of listeners, MDA has put in place content and advertising guidelines for radio broadcasters.
