MDA has received feedback from parents and schools about the dark side of the Internet, especially for the young. To address these concerns, MDA has worked with the three Internet Access Service Providers (IASPs) in Singapore to provide optional Family Access Networks (FAN) or filtering services that parents can subscribe to for their children.
What is Family Access Network?
These networks filter out pornographic as well as other undesirable sites and provide an optional, hassle-free network solution to parents who are unfamiliar with the use of stand-alone filtering software. These services empower parents to better manage their children's Internet access. Subscribers who choose not to opt for these services can continue with the present access to the Internet. Parents can contact their respective IASPs to subscribe to these filtering services.
Internet Filtering Software
Meanwhile, stand-alone filtering software such as CyberPatrol, Net Nanny and CYBERsitter are also available on the market.
